Free Day, Wednesday

We had a great day on our own today. The two leaders had discussed a bunch of options to all of us. Since I wanted to give my knee some more rest time, we disregarded all the hike, bike and bus options and went for the boat tour. We boarded the ferry just down from our hotel. With the ticket you are allowed 2 hop on and hop offs on the round-the-whole-lake trip. Some of our group were also on the ferry. We had a lovely boat trip to Gmund at one end of the lake where some got off but we carried on to the town of Tegernsee exactly opposite our town of Bad Wiessee for our first stop.

Another little "ferry" passes us on the lake

Gorgeous houses along the waterfront.

Old monestery in Tegernsee where we had had lunch on Tuesday. This time we were at other end of monestery in a different restaurant.

Pretzels are put on the table and you are only charged for any that are eaten from basket, not for what you leave. Not sure how many tables they have been on previously!!!!

Apple strudel with warm vanilla custard - nummy dessert

Cute boathouse with cabin

Next stop: Rottach-Egern. The largest town on the lake and at the opposite end from Gmund.

We just wandered down the waterfront path looking at houses. Found this cute little garden, overkill of frogs, but still cute.

A little chapel in behind a church with a vertical sundial.

We travelled back to Bad Wiessee on the boat, a lovely trip for €14.50 each. Two happy travelers.
