We left Bad Wiesee and the Hotel Terrassenhof just after 11am on the HF bus to the Munich airport. The bus had arrived with another HF group from Mayrhofen, Austria, everyone heading for flights to Manchester or Heathrow and a few like us on independent travel. We said goodby to our group when we arrived at the airport and headed for the train station with the idea of taking the subway train into Munich and then train to Salzburg. We checked at the info booth where it was suggested to us to bypass Munich train station because of the crowds arriving today for the start of Octoberfest. She sent us to the "Transfer" kiosk in the next building to see if they had any extra seats in minibuses going our way. We arrived wondering if this was a good thing or not, it is more expensive but it turned out to be a great idea. The guys at the kiosk said yes, 2 spots in 7 passenger van leaving in a few minutes. We paid and within a few minutes we were on our way. The driver did an amazing job avoiding all the main highways which were backed up bumper to bumper around Munich and got us to Salzburg in just under 2 hours. We were delivered right to the front door of our hotel. And the bonus was seeing so much of the countryside from the side roads.
City Hotel Trumer, where once again we are on the top floor and have a loft room, but there is an elevator this time, good thing since it is 5 floors up.
We just did a little walk around to get the lay of the land near our hotel
The River Salzach with the old town on the opposite side and fortress up on the hill.
and then went to the big park close by to see Mirabell Gardens.
We have 3 full days here to explore and hopefully hear some good music.
